Related Product Information for EIF4E recombinant protein
EIF4E, a member of eukaryotic initiation factor 4 families, modulates translation of maternal mRNAs in early embryos before the onset of zygotic transcription. This protein recognizes and binds to the 7 methyl GTP cap structure of eukaryotic mRNAs, thereby mediating the initiation of translation. It facilitates ribosome binding by inducing the unwinding of the mRNAs secondary structures. Recombinant human EIF4E protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E Coli and purified by using conventional chromatography.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a component of the eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4F complex, which recognizes the 7-methylguanosine cap structure at the 5' end of messenger RNAs. The encoded protein aids in translation initiation by recruiting ribosomes to the 5'-cap structure. Association of this protein with the 4F complex is the rate-limiting step in translation initiation. This gene acts as a proto-oncogene, and its expression and activation is associated with transformation and tumorigenesis. Several pseudogenes of this gene are found on other chromosomes. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2015]

Uniprot Description

Recognizes and binds the 7-methylguanosine-containing mRNA cap during an early step in the initiation of protein synthesis and facilitates ribosome binding by inducing the unwinding of the mRNAs secondary structures. Component of the CYFIP1-EIF4E-FMR1 complex which binds to the mRNA cap and mediates translational repression. In the CYFIP1-EIF4E-FMR1 complex this subunit mediates the binding to the mRNA cap.

Product Notes

The EIF4E eif4e (Catalog #AAA203448) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The tag for this protein is His-tag. AAA Biotech's EIF4E can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, SDS-PAGE. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the EIF4E eif4e for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: MGSSHHHHHH SSGLVPRGSH MATVEPETTP TPNPPTTEEE KTESNQEVAN PEHYIKHPLQ NRWALWFFKN DKSKTWQANL RLISKFDTVE DFWALYNHIQ LSSNLMPGCD YSLFKDGIEP MWEDEKNKRG GRWLITLNKQ QRRSDLDRFW LETLLCLIGE SFDDYSDDVC GAVVNVRAKG DKIAIWTTEC ENREAVTHIG RVYKERLGLP PKIVIGYQSH ADTATKSGST TKNRFVV. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "EIF4E, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
