Rat Eukaryotic Translation Initiation Factor 2A ELISA Kit
Principle of the assay: EIF-2A ELISA kit applies the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. The microtiter plate has been pre-coated with a monoclonal antibody specific for EIF-2A. Standards or samples are then added to the microtiter plate wells and EIF-2A if present, will bind to the antibody pre-coated wells. In order to quantitatively determine the amount of EIF-2A present in the sample, a standardized preparation of horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated polyclonal antibody, specific for EIF-2A are added to each well to "sandwich" the EIF-2A immobilized on the plate. The microtiter plate undergoes incubation, and then the wells are thoroughly washed to remove all unbound components. Next, substrate solutions are added to each well. The enzyme (HRP) and substrate are allowed to react over a short incubation period. Only those wells that contain EIF-2A and enzyme-conjugated antibody will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by addition of a sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The EIF-2A concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
EIF2A is a 65-kD protein that catalyzes the formation of puromycin-sensitive 80S preinitiation complexes (Zoll et al., 2002 [PubMed 12133843]).[supplied by OMIM, Mar 2008]
Uniprot Description
EIF2A: Functions in the early steps of protein synthesis of a small number of specific mRNAs. Acts by directing the binding of methionyl-tRNAi to 40S ribosomal subunits. In contrast to the eIF- 2 complex, it binds methionyl-tRNAi to 40 S subunits in a codon- dependent manner, whereas the eIF-2 complex binds methionyl-tRNAi to 40 S subunits in a GTP-dependent manner. May act by impiging the expression of specific proteins. Belongs to the WD repeat EIF2A family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes
The Rat EIF2A eif2a (Catalog #AAA751823) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA751823 ELISA Kit recognizes Rat EIF2A. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Eukaryotic Translation Initiation Factor 2A, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
