Host Note
Optimized DNA sequence encoding Mouse EGF mature chain was expressed in Escherichia Coli.
Endotoxin
Endotoxin content was assayed using a LAL gel clot method.
Endotoxin level was found to be less than 0.1 ng/ug (1EU/ug).
Reconstitution
A quick spin of the vial followed by reconstitution in distilled water to a concentration not less than 0.1 mg/mL. This solution can then be diluted into other buffers
Molecular Weight Note
Recombinant Mouse EGF, generated by the proteolytic removal of the signal peptide
and propeptide, is a disulfide-linked monomer protein.

Recombinant Mouse EGF consists of 54 amino acids and migrates as an approximately 6.2 kDa protein under reducing conditions.
Preparation and Storage
The lyophilized protein is stable for at least 2 years from date of receipt at -20 degree C.
Upon reconstitution, this cytokine can be stored in working aliquots at 2 degree - 8 degree C for one month, or at -20 degree C for six months, with a carrier protein without detectable loss of activity.

Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Related Product Information for EGF recombinant protein
Epidermal growth factor (EGF) is a small mitogenic protein that is thought to be involved in mechanisms such as normal cell growth, oncogenesis, and wound healing. This protein shows both strong sequential and functional homology with human type-alpha transforming growth factor (hTGF alpha), which is a competitor for EGF receptor sites. EGF receptors are expressed in almost all types of tissues. Parietal endoderm, mature skeletal muscles, and hematopoietic tissues do not express the receptor.

Uniprot Description

EGF: EGF stimulates the growth of various epidermal and epithelial tissues in vivo and in vitro and of some fibroblasts in cell culture. Magnesiotropic hormone that stimulates magnesium reabsorption in the renal distal convoluted tubule via engagement of EGFR and activation of the magnesium channel TRPM6. Defects in EGF are the cause of hypomagnesemia type 4 (HOMG4); also known as renal hypomagnesemia normocalciuric. HOMG4 is a disorder characterized by massive renal hypomagnesemia and normal levels of serum calcium and calcium excretion. Clinical features include seizures, mild-to mederate psychomotor retardation, and brisk tendon reflexes. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Hormone; Membrane protein, integral; Ligand, receptor tyrosine kinase

Cellular Component: extracellular space; membrane; lysosomal membrane; plasma membrane; integral to membrane; intracellular

Product Notes

The EGF egf (Catalog #AAA553002) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The amino acid sequence is listed below: STAPSLLGED GHHLDRNSYP GCPSSYDGYC LNGGVCMHIE SLDSYTCNCV IGYSGDRCQT RDLRWWELRH AGYGQKHDIM VVAVCMVALV LLLLLGMWGT YYYRTRKQLS NPPKNPCDEP. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Epidermal Growth Factor, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
