• Solubility: It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized SAA1 in sterile 18M Omega -cm H2O not less than 100 ug/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
• Biological Activity: The biological activity determined by a chemoattract bioassay using human monocytes is in a concentration range of 10-100 ng/ml.
• Preparation and Storage: Lyophilized SAA1 although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18 degree C. Upon reconstitution SAA1 should be stored at 4 degree C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18 degree C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). This gene encodes a member of the serum amyloid A family of apolipoproteins. The encoded protein is a major acute phase protein that is highly expressed in response to inflammation and tissue injury. This protein also plays an important role in HDL metabolism and cholesterol homeostasis. High levels of this protein are associated with chronic inflammatory diseases including atherosclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, Alzheimer's disease and Crohn's disease. This protein may also be a potential biomarker for certain tumors. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants that encode the same protein.
