Reconstitution
Centrifuge vial prior to opening. Reconstitute in water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/m. Do not vortex. This solution can be stored at 2°C to 8°C for up to 1 week. For extended storage it is recommended to further dilute in a buffer containing a carrier protein (example 0.1% BSA) and store in working aliquots at -20°C to -80°C.
Preparation and Storage
The lyophilized protein is stable at room temperature for 1 month and at 4°C for 6 months. Reconstituted working aliquots are stable for 1 week at 2°C to 8°C and for 12 months at -20°C to -80°C.
Related Product Information for IFN-gamma active protein
IFN-gamma is an acid-labile interferon produced by CD4 and CD8 T lymphocytes as well as activated NK cells. IFN-gamma receptors are present in most immune cells, which respond to IFN-gamma signaling by increasing the surface expression of class I MHC proteins. This promotes the presentation of antigen to T-helper (CD4+) cells. IFN-gamma signaling in antigen-presenting cells and antigen-recognizing B and T lymphocytes regulates the antigen-specific phases of the immune response. Additionally, IFN-gamma stimulates a number of lymphoid cell functions including the anti-microbial and anti-tumor responses of macrophages, NK cells, and neutrophils. Human IFN-gamma species-specific and is biologically active only in human and primate cells. Recombinant murine IFN-gamma is a 15.6 kDa protein containing 134 amino acid residues.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a soluble cytokine that is a member of the type II interferon class. The encoded protein is secreted by cells of the both the innate and adaptive immune systems. The active protein is a homodimer that binds to the interferon gamma receptor which triggers a cellular response to viral and microbial inflections. Mice deficient in this gene have increased susceptibility to viral, bacterial and parasitic infections and to several autoimmune diseases. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2015]

Uniprot Description

Function: Produced by lymphocytes activated by specific antigens or mitogens. IFN-gamma, in addition to having antiviral activity, has important immunoregulatory functions. It is a potent activator of macrophages, it has antiproliferative effects on transformed cells and it can potentiate the antiviral and antitumor effects of the type I interferons.

Subunit structure: Homodimer.

Subcellular location: Secreted.

Tissue specificity: Released primarily from activated T lymphocytes.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the type II (or gamma) interferon family.

Product Notes

The IFN-gamma ifng (Catalog #AAA691575) is an Active Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Mouse IFN-gamma reacts with Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. The amino acid sequence is listed below: MHGTVIESLE SLNNYFNSSG IDVEEKSLFL DIWRNWQKDG DMKILQ SQII SFYLRLFEVL KDNQAISNNI SVIESHLITT FFSNSKAKKD A FMSIAKFEV NNPQVQRQAF NELIRVVHQL LPESSLRKRK RSRC. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "IFN-gamma, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
