Related Product Information for LEC active protein
LEC is a CC chemokine that can signal through the CCR8 and CCR1 receptors. It is expressed in the liver, spleen, and thymus. LEC is chemotactic towards monocytes and lymphocytes but not neutrophils. Recombinant human LEC is an 11.2 kDa protein containing 97 amino acid residues, including the four conserved cysteine residues present in CC chemokines.

NCBI Description

This gene is one of several cytokine genes clustered on the q-arm of chromosome 17. Cytokines are a family of secreted proteins involved in immunoregulatory and inflammatory processes. The CC cytokines are proteins characterized by two adjacent cysteines. The cytokine encoded by this gene displays chemotactic activity for lymphocytes and monocytes but not for neutrophils. This cytokine also shows a potent myelosuppressive activity and suppresses proliferation of myeloid progenitor cells. The expression of this gene is upregulated by IL-10. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

CCL16: Shows chemotactic activity for lymphocytes and monocytes but not neutrophils. Also shows potent myelosuppressive activity, suppresses proliferation of myeloid progenitor cells. Recombinant SCYA16 shows chemotactic activity for monocytes and THP-1 monocytes, but not for resting lymphocytes and neutrophils. Induces a calcium flux in THP-1 cells that were desensitized by prior expression to RANTES. Belongs to the intercrine beta (chemokine CC) family.

Product Notes

The LEC ccl16 (Catalog #AAA695977) is an Active Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Human LEC / NCC-4 (CCL16) reacts with Species Reactivity: Human Cross Reactivity: Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. The amino acid sequence is listed below: QPKVPEWVN TPSTCCLKY YEKVLPRRL VVGYRKALN CHLPAIIFV TKRNREVCT NPNDDWVQE YIKDPNLPL LPTRNLSTV KIITAKNGQ PQLLNSQ. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "LEC / NCC-4, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
