Related Product Information for tauD active protein
Taurine dioxygenase (TauD) is a Fe (II) and alpha-ketoglutaric acid-dependent dioxygenase; which enables E Coli to use taurine as a sulfur source. The oligomeric state of the enzyme from E Coli is reported both as a dimer and tetramer. It contains a 2-His; 1 carboxylate facial triad; which is present in most members of the family of Fe (II) ? alpha-KG-dependent enzymes. TauD catalyzes the conversion of the amino acid taurine (2-aminoethane-1-sulfonic acid) to sulfite and aminoacetaldehyde.

NCBI Description

Escherichia coli can utilize aliphatic sulfonates as sulfur sources for growth. [More information is available at EcoCyc: EG12423].

Uniprot Description

Catalyzes the conversion of taurine and alpha ketoglutarate to sulfite, aminoacetaldehyde and succinate. Required for the utilization of taurine (2-aminoethanesulfonic acid) as an alternative sulfur source. Pentane-sulfonic acid, 3-(N-morpholino)propanesulfonic acid and 1,3-dioxo-2-isoindolineethanesulfonic acid are also substrates for this enzyme.

Product Notes

The tauD taud (Catalog #AAA846999) is an Active Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's Taurine Dioxygenase (TauD) can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, SDS-PAGE. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the tauD taud for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Taurine Dioxygenase (TauD), Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
