Biological Activity
rLEP is fully biologically active when compared to standards. The ED50, calculated by the leotub-dependent stimulation of human OB-R transfected murine BAF/3 indicator cells is 0.35-0.06ng/ml.

Protein Content
Protein quantization was carried out by UV spectroscopy at 280nm using the absorbency value of 0.201 as the extinction coefficient for a 0.1% (1mg/ml) solution at pH 8.0. This value is calculated by the PC GENE computer analysis program of protein sequences (IntelliGenetics).
Preparation and Storage
Lyophilized powder may be stored at 4 degree C for short-term only. Reconstitute to nominal volume by adding sterile dH2O, 0.1% HSA or BSA and store at -20 degree C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20 degree C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
