Related Product Information for EREG active protein
Epiregulin is an EGF related growth factor that binds specifically to EGFR (ErbB1) and ErbB4, but not ErbB2 or ErbB3. It is expressed mainly in the placenta and peripheral blood leukocytes and in certain carcinomas of the bladder, lung, kidney and colon. Epiregulin stimulates the proliferation of keratinocytes, hepatocytes, fibroblasts and vascular smooth muscle cells. It also inhibits the growth of several tumor-derived epithelial cell lines. Human Epiregulin is initially synthesized as a glycosylated 19.0kD transmembrane precursor protein, which is processed by proteolytic cleavage to produce a 6.0kD mature secreted sequence. Recombinant human Epiregulin is a 6.0kD monomeric protein, containing 50 amino residues, which corresponds to the mature secreted Epiregulin sequence.

NCBI Description

Epiregulin is a member of the epidermal growth factor family. Epiregulin can function as a ligand of EGFR (epidermal growth factor receptor), as well as a ligand of most members of the ERBB (v-erb-b2 oncogene homolog) family of tyrosine-kinase receptors. [provided by RefSeq]

Uniprot Description

Function: May be a mediator of localized cell proliferation. As a mitogen it may stimulate cell proliferation and/or angiogenesis.

Subcellular location: Epiregulin: Secreted › extracellular space. Proepiregulin: Cell membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein.

Tissue specificity: In normal adults, expressed predominantly in the placenta and peripheral blood leukocytes. High levels were detected in carcinomas of the bladder, lung, kidney and colon.

Sequence similarities: Contains 1 EGF-like domain.

Product Notes

The EREG ereg (Catalog #AAA650788) is an Active Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Epiregulin, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
