Related Product Information for ANXA6 active protein
Background: Annexin A6, also known as ANXA6 or ANXAI¥, belongs to a family of Ca2+-dependent membrane and phospholipid binding proteins. Members of this family have been implicated in membrane-related events along exocytotic and endocytotic pathways. Annexin 6 is phosphorylated in vivo associated with cell growth. Annexin 6 was not phosphorylated in quiescent cells, but was phosphorylated on serine and to a lesser extent threonine, several hours following cell stimulation. Experiment has revealed the presence of annexin A6 on the cell surface of variety cells as putative receptors and/or binding proteins for chondroitin sulfate proteoglycans, helping cells to bind with this extracellular matrix glycosaminoglycan chondroitin sulfate which is related to the cell-substratum adhesion. A post-tranlational modification other than direct protein phosphorylation may influence the activity of annexin6 and provide evidence linking cell growth with regulation of annexin 6 function.

NCBI Description

Annexin VI belongs to a family of calcium-dependent membrane and phospholipid binding proteins. Several members of the annexin family have been implicated in membrane-related events along exocytotic and endocytotic pathways. The annexin VI gene is approximately 60 kbp long and contains 26 exons. It encodes a protein of about 68 kDa that consists of eight 68-amino acid repeats separated by linking sequences of variable lengths. It is highly similar to human annexins I and II sequences, each of which contain four such repeats. Annexin VI has been implicated in mediating the endosome aggregation and vesicle fusion in secreting epithelia during exocytosis. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2010]

Uniprot Description

ANXA6: a calcium/phospholipid-binding protein that may associate with CD21. May regulate the release of Ca(2+) from intracellular stores. Phosphorylated in response to growth factor stimulation. Annexins are a family of structurally related proteins whose common property is calcium-dependent binding to phospholipids. There are at least ten different annexins in mammalian species. Annexins do not contain signal peptides, yet some annexins (A1, A2 and A5) appear to be secreted in a physiologically regulated fashion.

Product Notes

The ANXA6 anxa6 (Catalog #AAA8120710) is an Active Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The amino acid sequence is listed below: Met1-Asp67 3. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Annexin VI/ANXA6, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
