Uniprot Description

Function: Delta-conotoxins bind to site 6 of voltage-gated sodium channels and inhibit the inactivation process. This toxin selectively increases nerve terminal excitability at frog neuromuscular junctions without affecting muscle sodium channels. In contrast, it potently induces a sodium-mediated depolarization of the muscle membrane of mouse neuromuscular preparations. It also inhibits the inactivation of sodium channel currents and affects the peak current in DRG neurons

By similarity.

Subcellular location: Secreted.

Tissue specificity: Expressed by the venom duct.

Domain: The presence of a 'disulfide through disulfide knot' structurally defines this protein as a knottin

By similarity.The cysteine framework is VI/VII (C-C-CC-C-C).

Miscellaneous: Found in the dissected venom (DV), but not in the injectable (milked) venom (IV) (Ref.3).

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the conotoxin O1 superfamily.

Mass spectrometry: Molecular mass is 3539.41 Da from positions 1 - 32. Determined by ESI. monoisotopic. Ref.3

Product Notes

The Delta-conotoxin-like CnVID delta-cnvid (Catalog #AAA1066508) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E Coli or Yeast or Baculovirus or Mammalian Cell and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 1-32aa; Cytoplasmic domain. The amino acid sequence is listed below: DECFSPGTFC GFKPGLCCSA RCFSLFCISL EF. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Delta-conotoxin-like CnVID, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
