CXCL3 controls migration and adhesion of monocytes and mediates it effects on its target cell by interacting with a cell surface chemokine receptor called CXCR2. Recombinant human CXCL3 protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E Coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.

This antimicrobial gene encodes a member of the CXC subfamily of chemokines. The encoded protein is a secreted growth factor that signals through the G-protein coupled receptor, CXC receptor 2.
