Intended Uses: This CSTC ELISA kit is a 1.5 hour solid-phase ELISA designed for the quantitative determination of Canine CSTC. This ELISA kit for research use only!

Principle of the Assay: CSTC ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing a polyclonal anti-CSTC antibody and an CSTC-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with CSTC-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the CSTC concentration since CSTC from samples and CSTC-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-CSTC antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by CSTC from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind CSTC-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The CSTC concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes the peptide hormones calcitonin, calcitonin gene-related peptide and katacalcin by tissue-specific alternative RNA splicing of the gene transcripts and cleavage of inactive precursor proteins. Calcitonin is involved in calcium regulation and acts to regulate phosphorus metabolism. Calcitonin gene-related peptide functions as a vasodilator and as an antimicrobial peptide while katacalcin is a calcium-lowering peptide. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Aug 2014]

Uniprot Description

CALCA: Calcitonin causes a rapid but short-lived drop in the level of calcium and phosphate in blood by promoting the incorporation of those ions in the bones. Belongs to the calcitonin family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The Goat CT calca (Catalog #AAA738995) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA738995 ELISA Kit recognizes Goat CT. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Calcitonin, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
