Related Product Information for CLEC10A / MGL1 / CD301 recombinant protein
Background: CLEC10A, also known as the macrophage galactose-type calcium-type lectins (MGLs; CD301) constitute a unique class of C-type lectins because of their specificity for galactose and its structural homologues. MGLs/CD301 is a type II transmembrane glycoproteins and is expressed on macrophages and related cells of myeloid origins, particularly immature dendritic cells (DCs). There are 2 homologues: MGL1 and MGL2 (CD301a and CD301b) in mice. MGL1/CD301a induces both the production and secretion of interleukin (IL)-10. MGL1/CD301a plays a protective role against colitis by effectively inducing IL-10 production by colonic lamina propria macrophages in response to invading commensal bacteria.

Description: A DNA sequence encoding the human CLEC10A (Q8IUN9-2) (Gln61-His292) was expressed, with the fused Fc region of human IgG1 at the N-terminus.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the C-type lectin/C-type lectin-like domain (CTL/CTLD) superfamily. Members of this family share a common protein fold and have diverse functions, such as cell adhesion, cell-cell signalling, glycoprotein turnover, and roles in inflammation and immune response. The encoded type 2 transmembrane protein may function as a cell surface antigen. Two transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

CLEC10A: Probable role in regulating adaptive and innate immune responses. Binds in a calcium-dependent manner to terminal galactose and N-acetylgalactosamine units, linked to serine or threonine. These sugar moieties are known as Tn-Ag and are expressed in a variety of carcinoma cells. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17p13.1

Cellular Component: plasma membrane

Product Notes

The CLEC10A / MGL1 / CD301 clec10a (Catalog #AAA2546066) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Human Cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The recombinant human CLEC10A/Fc is a disulfide-linked homodimer. The reduced monomer comprises 492 amino acids and has a predicted molecular mass of 54.6 kDa. The apparent molecular mass of the protein is approximately 58 kDa in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions due to glycosylation. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CLEC10A / MGL1 / CD301 clec10a for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CLEC10A / MGL1 / CD301, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
