Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for CEMP-1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any CEMP-1 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for CEMP-1 is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of CEMP-1 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is found in plasma, where it is involved in the transfer of cholesteryl ester from high density lipoprotein (HDL) to other lipoproteins. Defects in this gene are a cause of hyperalphalipoproteinemia 1 (HALP1). Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2013]

Uniprot Description

Function: Involved in the transfer of insoluble cholesteryl esters in the reverse transport of cholesterol.

Product Notes

The Human CETP cetp (Catalog #AAA702011) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA702011 ELISA Kit recognizes Human CETP. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "cholesteryl ester transfer protein, plasma, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
