Related Product Information for CENPB recombinant protein
Centromere proteins are a group of proteins which form and/or mediate the function of centromeres, the central structures of chromosomes to which spindle fibers/microtubuli attach and pull the chromosomes apart in cell division. Currently, 9 centromere proteins are known and designated CENP-A to CENP-I. Most of the centromere proteins are targets of autoantibodies, the anti-centromere antibodies. CENP-B is the most important of the centromeric autoantigens: it has a molecular weight of approx. 66kD and plays an important role in the formation of the centromeric chromatin. CENP-B antibodies are present in the sera of up to 80% of patients with CREST syndrome.

Recombinant Human CENP-B produced in SF9 is a glycosylated, polypeptide chain having a molecular mass of 80kD.

Uniprot Description

CENPB: Interacts with centromeric heterochromatin in chromosomes and binds to a specific subset of alphoid satellite DNA, called the CENP-B box. May organize arrays of centromere satellite DNA into a higher-order structure which then directs centromere formation and kinetochore assembly in mammalian chromosomes.

Protein type: DNA-binding

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 20p13

Cellular Component: chromosome; nucleus; chromosome, pericentric region

Molecular Function: centromeric DNA binding; sequence-specific DNA binding; satellite DNA binding; chromatin binding

Biological Process: regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent

Product Notes

The CENP-B cenpb (Catalog #AAA638023) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Sf9 insect cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot, for biotinylation and iodination.. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CENP-B cenpb for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CENP-B, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
