Related Product Information for CDCP1 / CD318 recombinant protein
Background: CDCP1 contains three extracellular CUB domains. It is a putative stem cell marker that is highly expressed in some human cancer cells and in both, typical and atypical (cancerous) colons. It interacts with CDH2/N-cadherin, CDH3/P-cadherin, SDC1/syndecan-1, SDC4/syndecan-4 and the serine protease ST14/MT-SP1. It also interacts with SRC and PRKCG/protein kinase C gamma. CDCP1 is taken as a key regulator of EGF/EGFR-induced cell migration. It has been shown that signaling via EGF/EGFR induces migration of ovarian cancer Caov3 and OVCA420 cells with concomitant up-regulation of CDCP1 mRNA and protein. Consistent with a role in cell migration CDCP1 relocates from cell-cell junctions to punctate structures on filopodia after activation of EGFR. It may be involved in cell adhesion and cell matrix association. It also may play a role in the regulation of anchorage versus migration or proliferation versus differentiation via its phosphorylation. It has been taken as a novel marker for leukemia identification and for immature hematopoietic stem cell subsets.

Description: A DNA sequence encoding the human CDCP1 (Q9H5V8-3) (Met1-Glu343) was expressed with a polyhistidine tag at the C-terminus.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a transmembrane protein which contains three extracellular CUB domains and acts as a substrate for Src family kinases. The protein plays a role in the tyrosine phosphorylation-dependent regulation of cellular events that are involved in tumor invasion and metastasis. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants of this gene. [provided by RefSeq, May 2013]

Uniprot Description

CDCP1: a transmembrane protein containing three extracellular CUB domains involved in cell adhesion and cell matrix association. May play a role in the regulation of anchorage versus migration or proliferation versus differentiation depending upon its phosphorylation status. Interacts with N- and P-cadherin, syndecans 1 and 4, the serine protease ST14, SRC and PKCG. Highly expressed in mitotic cells with low expression during interphase. Detected at highest levels in skeletal muscle and colon with lower levels in kidney, small intestine, placenta and lung. Up-regulated in a number of human tumor cell lines, as well as in colorectal cancer, breast carcinoma and lung cancer. Its expression level is correlated with the metastatic ability of carcinoma cells. May be a novel marker for leukemia diagnosis and for immature hematopoietic stem cell subsets. Belongs to the tetraspanin web involved in tumor progression and metastasis. Also expressed in cells with phenotypes reminiscent of mesenchymal stem cells and neural stem cells. Three alternatively spliced human isoforms have been reported. Isoform 1 is a single-pass membrane protein that may also be shed, giving rise to a soluble peptide. Isoform 3 is secreted.

Product Notes

The CDCP1 / CD318 cdcp1 (Catalog #AAA2545344) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Human Cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The recombinant human CDCP1 consists of 325 amino acids and has a predicted molecular mass of 36.4 kDa. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CDCP1 / CD318 cdcp1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CDCP1 / CD318, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
