Related Product Information for mCD14 recombinant protein
Description: The CD14 is produced from mouse CD14 transfected CHO-cells in serum free medium. Before transfection the complete mouse CD14-cDNA was amplified by PCR and cloned into expression vector p-POL-DHFR). The recombinant mouse CD-14 was purified by His-tag and controlled by SDS page. The myeloid differentiation antigen CD14 acts as the major receptor for bacterial LPS. The dominant form of the recombinant wildtype CD14 is the 50 kDa protein.

Introduction: CD14 (also known lipopolysaccharide (LPS) receptor) is expressed strongly on monocytes and macrophage and weakly on the surface of neutrophils. CD14 is anchored to cells by linkage to glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) and functions as a high affinity receptor for complexes of LPS and LPS binding protein (LBP). Soluble CD14, also binding to LPS, acts at physiological concentration as an LPS agonist and has, at higher concentrations, an LPS antagonizing effect in cell activation. CD14 has been shown to bind apoptotic cells.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a protein that plays an important role in the innate immune response and is expressed in monocyte/macrophage cells. This gene product acts as a co-receptor that binds several microbial and fungal molecules, including lipopolysaccharides (LPS). This proteins LPS-binding activity is enhanced by the LPS binding protein (LBP) to allow binding to the TLR4-MD-2 co-receptor complex. The product of this gene is found in two forms, either as a soluble protein or attached to the cell surface by a glycosylphosphatidylinositol anchor. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2014]

Uniprot Description

CD14: Cooperates with MD-2 and TLR4 to mediate the innate immune response to bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Acts via MyD88, TIRAP and TRAF6, leading to NF-kappa-B activation, cytokine secretion and the inflammatory response. Up-regulates cell surface molecules, including adhesion molecules.

Protein type: Membrane protein, GPI anchor

Cellular Component: extracellular space; cell surface; membrane; plasma membrane; lipid raft

Molecular Function: lipopolysaccharide binding

Biological Process: immune system process; response to molecule of bacterial origin; innate immune response; positive regulation of endocytosis; inflammatory response; positive regulation of tumor necrosis factor production; positive regulation of cytokine secretion

Product Notes

The mCD14 cd14 (Catalog #AAA143088) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Chinese Hamster Ovarian Cells (CHO) and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's CD14 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Inhibition Assays, Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the mCD14 cd14 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CD14, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
