Principle of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Canine VIP antibody. VIP present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Canine VIP Antibody is added and binds to VIP in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated VIP antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Canine VIP. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

This gene is a member of the vesicular amine transporter family. The encoded transmembrane protein transports acetylcholine into secretory vesicles for release into the extracellular space. Acetylcholine transport utilizes a proton gradient established by a vacuolar ATPase. This gene is located within the first intron of the choline acetyltransferase gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
