Related Product Information for BMPR2 recombinant protein
Protein Construction: Recombinant Human Bone Morphogenetic Protein Receptor Type IIA is produced by our Mammalian expression system and the target gene encoding Ser27-Ile151 is expressed with a 6His tag at the C-terminus.

Background: Bone Morphogenetic Protein Receptor II (BMPR-II) is a Type II Serine/Threonine Kinase that mediates cellular responses to BMPs. BMPR-II is characterized by lacking of a GS domain, and presence of a C-terminal extension typical of type II receptors. BMPRII binds BMP2, BMP4 and BMP7 weakly in the absence of type I receptor, and the binding can be facilitated by the presence of the type I receptor, including BMPR-IA/Brk1, BMPR-IB, and ActR-I. BMPR-II plays a key role in cell growth. Defects in BMPR-II have been linked to primary pulmonary hypertension. Human and mouse BMPR-II are highly conserved and share 97 % amino acid sequence identity.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) receptor family of transmembrane serine/threonine kinases. The ligands of this receptor are BMPs, which are members of the TGF-beta superfamily. BMPs are involved in endochondral bone formation and embryogenesis. These proteins transduce their signals through the formation of heteromeric complexes of two different types of serine (threonine) kinase receptors: type I receptors of about 50-55 kD and type II receptors of about 70-80 kD. Type II receptors bind ligands in the absence of type I receptors, but they require their respective type I receptors for signaling, whereas type I receptors require their respective type II receptors for ligand binding. Mutations in this gene have been associated with primary pulmonary hypertension, both familial and fenfluramine-associated, and with pulmonary venoocclusive disease. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

On ligand binding, forms a receptor complex consisting of two type II and two type I transmembrane serine/threonine kinases. Type II receptors phosphorylate and activate type I receptors which autophosphorylate, then bind and activate SMAD transcriptional regulators. Binds to BMP7, BMP2 and, less efficiently, BMP4. Binding is weak but enhanced by the presence of type I receptors for BMPs. Mediates induction of adipogenesis by GDF6.

Product Notes

The BMPR2 bmpr2 (Catalog #AAA2556708) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Human Cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Bone Morphogenetic Protein Receptor Type IIA, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
