Principle of the Assay: This kit was based on sandwich enzyme-linked immune-sorbent assay technology. Anti- BMG/beta 2-MG antibody was pre-coated onto 96-well plates. And the biotin conjugated anti- BMG/beta2- MG antibody was used as detection antibodies. The standards, test samples and biotin conjugated detection antibody were added to the wells subsequently, and wash with wash buffer. HRP-Streptavidin was added and unbound conjugates were washed away with wash buffer. TMB substrates were used to visualize HRP enzymatic reaction. TMB was catalyzed by HRP to produce a blue color product that changed into yellow after adding acidic stop solution. The density of yellow is proportional to the BMG/beta2-MG amount of sample captured in plate. Read the O.D. absorbance at 450nm in a microplate reader, and then the concentration of BMG/beta2-MG can be calculated.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a serum protein found in association with the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I heavy chain on the surface of nearly all nucleated cells. The protein has a predominantly beta-pleated sheet structure that can form amyloid fibrils in some pathological conditions. The encoded antimicrobial protein displays antibacterial activity in amniotic fluid. A mutation in this gene has been shown to result in hypercatabolic hypoproteinemia.[provided by RefSeq, Aug 2014]
