Related Product Information for SLC6A1 blocking peptide
GAD-65 and GAD-67, glutamate decarboxylases function to catalyze the production of GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid). In the central nervous system GABA functions as the main inhibitory transmitter by increasing a Cl-conductance that inhibits neuronal firing. GABA has been shown to activate both ionotropic (GABAA) and metabotropic (GABAB) receptors as well as a third class of receptors called GABAC. Both GABAA and GABAC are ligand-gated ion channels, however, they are structurally and functionally distinct. Members of the GABAA receptor family include GABAA Ralpha1-6, GABAA R beta1-3, GABAA Rgamma1-3, GABAA Rdelta, GABAA Repsilon, GABAA R?1 and GABAA R?2. The GABAB family is composed of GABAB R1alpha and GABAB R1beta. GABA transporters have also been identified and include GABA T-1, GABA T-2 and GABA T-3 (also designated GAT-1, -2, and -3). The GABA transporters function to terminate GABA action.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) transporter that localizes to the plasma membrane. The encoded protein removes GABA from the synaptic cleft, restoring it to presynaptic terminals. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2017]

Uniprot Description

SLC6A1: Terminates the action of GABA by its high affinity sodium-dependent reuptake into presynaptic terminals. Belongs to the sodium:neurotransmitter symporter (SNF) (TC 2.A.22) family. SLC6A1 subfamily.

Protein type: Membrane protein, multi-pass; Transporter; Transporter, SLC family; Membrane protein, integral

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 3p25.3

Cellular Component: cell surface; membrane; integral to plasma membrane; axon; plasma membrane; integral to membrane

Molecular Function: gamma-aminobutyric acid:sodium symporter activity; neurotransmitter:sodium symporter activity

Biological Process: response to purine; response to toxin; neurotransmitter secretion; learning; response to cocaine; response to estradiol stimulus; response to sucrose stimulus; synaptic transmission; transport; response to lead ion; gamma-aminobutyric acid import; negative regulation of synaptic transmission, GABAergic; response to calcium ion; transmembrane transport; protein homooligomerization; positive regulation of gamma-aminobutyric acid secretion

Product Notes

The SLC6A1 slc6a1 (Catalog #AAA3005866) is a Blocking Peptide and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's SLC6A1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Blocking. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SLC6A1 slc6a1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SLC6A1, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
