NCBI Description

The product of this gene belongs to the family of purinoceptors for ATP. This receptor functions as a ligand-gated ion channel. Binding to ATP mediates synaptic transmission between neurons and from neurons to smooth muscle. Multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2013]

Uniprot Description

P2X2: Binding of this ligand-gated ion channel to ATP mediates synaptic transmission between neurons and from neurons to smooth muscle. Belongs to the P2X receptor family. 7 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The P2RX2 p2rx2 (Catalog #AAA9221359) is a Blocking Peptide and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "P2RX2, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
