Preparation and Storage
Maintain refrigerated at 2-8 degree C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20 degree C.
Related Product Information for FADS2 blocking peptide
Component of a lipid metabolic pathway that catalyzes biosynthesis of highly unsaturated fatty acids (HUFA) from precursor essential polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) linoleic acid (LA) (18:2n-6) and alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) (18:3n-3). Catalyzes the first and rate limiting step in this pathway which is the desaturation of LA (18:2n-6) and ALA (18:3n-3) into gamma- linoleic acid (GLA) (18:3n-6) and stearidonic acid (18:4n-3) respectively and other desaturation steps. Highly unsaturated fatty acids (HUFA) play pivotal roles in many biological functions. It catalizes as well the introduction of a cis double bond in palmitate to produce the mono-unsaturated fatty acid sapienate, the most abundant fatty acid in sebum.

Uniprot Description

FADS2: Component of a lipid metabolic pathway that catalyzes biosynthesis of highly unsaturated fatty acids (HUFA) from precursor essential polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) linoleic acid (LA) (18:2n-6) and alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) (18:3n-3). Belongs to the fatty acid desaturase family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, multi-pass; Oxidoreductase; Lipid Metabolism - unsaturated fatty acid biosynthesis; Membrane protein, integral; Lipid Metabolism - alpha-linolenic acid; EC 1.14.19.-

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 11q12.2

Cellular Component: endoplasmic reticulum membrane; integral to plasma membrane; membrane

Molecular Function: linoleoyl-CoA desaturase activity

Biological Process: linoleic acid metabolic process

Product Notes

The FADS2 fads2 (Catalog #AAA9230867) is a Blocking Peptide and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "FADS2, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
