MTS reagent is a tetrazolium inner salt useful for determining the number of viable cells in proliferation or chemosensitivity assays. MTS is bioreduced by cells into a colored formazan product that is soluble in tissue culture medium. This conversion is thought to be carried out by NAD(P)Hdependent dehydrogenase enzymes in metabolically active cells. Homogeneous, Colorimetric Cell Viability Assay requires the mixing of MTS Reagent and PMS components prior to the assay followed by 1-4 hours of incubation.
