NCBI Description

an anti-apoptotic protein; involved in inhibiting cell death in many different cell types [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

Bcl-2: a antiapoptotic member of the Bcl-2 family. Regulates cell death by controlling the mitochondrial membrane permeability. Inhibits caspase activity either by preventing the release of cytochrome c from the mitochondria and/or by binding to the apoptosis-activating factor (APAF-1). Phosphorylation by JNKs may increase its antiapoptotic functions.

Product Notes

The Bcl2 bcl2 (Catalog #AAA637090) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. Suitable for use as Input marker or positive control (Western Blot) and Function study (binding assay). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Bcl2 bcl2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Bcl 2, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
