NAD-dependent lysine demalonylase and desuccinylase that specifically removes malonyl and succinyl groups on target proteins. Activates CPS1 and contributes to the regulation of blood ammonia levels during prolonged fasting: acts by mediating desuccinylation of CPS1, thereby increasing CPS1 activity in response to elevated NAD levels during fasting. Activates SOD1 by mediating its desuccinylation, leading to reduced reactive oxygen species. Has weak NAD-dependent protein deacetylase activity; however this activity may not be physiologically relevant in vivo. Can deacetylate cytochrome c (CYCS) and a number of other proteins in vitro.

Uniprot Description

SIRT5: NAD-dependent lysine demalonylase and desuccinylase that specifically removes malonyl and succinyl groups on target proteins. Activates CPS1 and contributes to the regulation of blood ammonia levels during prolonged fasting: acts by mediating desuccinylation of CPS1, thereby increasing CPS1 activity in response to elevated NAD levels during fasting. Has weak NAD- dependent protein deacetylase activity; however this activity may not be physiologically relevant in vivo. Can deacetylate cytochrome c (CYCS) and a number of other proteins in vitro. Belongs to the sirtuin family. Class III subfamily. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: EC 3.5.1.-; Mitochondrial; Deacetylase

Cellular Component: cytosol; mitochondrial inner membrane; mitochondrial intermembrane space; mitochondrial matrix; mitochondrion; nucleus

Molecular Function: zinc ion binding

Biological Process: protein amino acid deacetylation; response to nutrient levels

Product Notes

The SIRT5 sirt5 (Catalog #AAA543263) is an Antibody and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's SIRT5 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Western Blot: 1:500. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SIRT5 sirt5 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SIRT5, Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
