~90%
The product of Sh ble, (Streptoalloteichus hindustanus bleomycin-resistance) gene confers resistance to Zeocin and Zeocell. The 14kD protein stoichiometrically binds to Zeocin and inhibits DNA strand cleavage and subsequent cell death.
Produced by a Streptomyces verticullus mutant and is part of the structurally related group of Bleomycin/Phleomycin type antibiotics. Used as a selective agent for the incorporation of the Sh ble gene which encodes a 13,665 Dalton protein. The protein binds to the antibiotic and prevents binding to DNA.
Phleomycin is a glycopeptide antibiotic of the bleomycin family, isolated from a mutant strain of Streptomyces verticullus. It binds and intercalates DNA thus destroying the integrity of the double helix. Use of phleomycin is recommended for cells poorly sensitive to Zeocin. Phleomycin is active against most bacteria, filamentous fungi, yeast, plant and animal cells.

The Phleomycin, Streptomyces verticillus (Catalog #AAA651416) is an Antibiotic and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. Used as a selective agent for the incorporation of the Sh ble gene which encodes a 13.665kD protein. The protein binds to the antibiotic and prevents binding to DNA.,, Suggested Concentration for use:, Organism:, E. coli: 25-50ug/ml in Low Salt LB medium, Yeast: 50-300ug/ml in YPD or minimal medium, Mammalian Cells: 25-1000ug/ml (varies with cell line). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Phleomycin, Streptomyces verticillus for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Phleomycin, Streptomyces verticillus, Antibiotic" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
