Ablation of the gamma3 subunit is associated with impaired glycogen resynthesis in skeletal muscle In contrast, naturally occurring mutations in the gamma3 subunit increase glycogen storage in skeletal muscle, which may enhance glycogen storage by shifting the metabolic fate of glucose from oxidation to storage.
