Principle of the assay: Anti-AMPH ELISA kit applies the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. The microtiter plate has been pre-coated with AMPH antigen. Standards or samples are then added to the microtiter plate wells and anti-AMPH if present, will bind to the antibody pre-coated wells. In order to quantitatively determine the amount of anti-AMPH present in the sample, a standardized preparation of horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated AMPH antigen is added to each well to "sandwich" the Anti-AMPH immobilized on the plate. The microtiter plate undergoes incubation, and then the wells are thoroughly washed to remove all unbound components. Next, substrate solutions are added to each well. The enzyme (HRP) and substrate are allowed to react over a short incubation period. Only those wells that contain Anti-AMPH and enzyme-conjugated antibody will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by addition of a sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The Anti-AMPH concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a protein associated with the cytoplasmic surface of synaptic vesicles. A subset of patients with stiff-man syndrome who were also affected by breast cancer are positive for autoantibodies against this protein. Alternate splicing of this gene results in two transcript variants encoding different isoforms. Additional splice variants have been described, but their full length sequences have not been determined. A pseudogene of this gene is found on chromosome 11.[provided by RefSeq, Nov 2010]

Uniprot Description

amphiphysin: May participate in mechanisms of regulated exocytosis in synapses and certain endocrine cell types. May control the properties of the membrane associated cytoskeleton. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The Human AMPH amph (Catalog #AAA749485) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA749485 ELISA Kit recognizes Human AMPH. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Anti amphiphysin Antibody, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
