CENTG3: a member of the centaurin family of ADP-ribosylation factor directed (ARF) GTPase-activating proteins (GAPs). Protective against the pathogenesis of polyglutamine diseases. Mediates the nuclear translocation of the CENTG3-polyQ complexes and the formation of promyelocytic leukemia (PML) protein-associated nuclear bodies in reactive oxygen species (ROS) signaling. Promotes the degradation of polyQ proteins at PML nuclear bodies through the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway. Knockdown by small interfering RNA in neuronal cells consistently blocked the nuclear translocation of polyQ and enhanced polyQ-mediated cell death. Three alternatively-spliced isoforms have been described.
