Biological Activity

Pleiotrophin (PTN), also known as Heparin-Binding Growth Factor-8 (HBGF-8) and Heparin-Binding Neurite-Promoting factor (HBNF), is a member of the heparin-binding neurotrophic factor family. Pleiotrophin is important in developmental processes, promoting neurite extension and stimulating cell division in hepatocytes. Pleiotrophin bears structural homology with Midkine (MK). Both Pleiotrophin and Midkine are highly conserved among mammalian species

Preparation and Storage
Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20 degree C. Stable for 12 months at -20 degree C. Reconstitute with sterile dH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degree C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
