Usage Notes
* Do not mix components from different kit lots or use reagents beyond the kit expiration date.
* Allow all reagents to warm to room temperature for at least 30 minutes before opening.
* Pre-rinse the pipet tip with reagent, use fresh pipet tips for each sample, standard and reagent to avoid contamination.
* Unused wells must be kept desiccated at 4 degree C in the sealed bag provided.
* Mix Thoroughly is very important for the result. It is recommended using low frequency oscillator or slight hand shaking every 10 minutes.
* It is recommended that all samples and standards be assayed in duplicate or triplicate.
Preparation and Storage
Store at 2-8 degree C.

Related Product Information for SYNPO elisa kit
Description: This Human Synaptopodin (SYNPO) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate SYNPO in samples. An antibody specific for SYNPO has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any SYNPO present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for SYNPO is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of SYNPO bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

Background: Synaptopodin is an actin-associated protein that may play a role in actin-based cell shape and motility. The name synaptopodin derives from the protein's associations with postsynaptic densities and dendritic spines and with renal podocytes. Mouse and human SYNPO share 84% amino acid identity. SYNPO contains a high proline content (20%), making it unlikely that SYNPO forms a globular domain. It has several potential phosphorylation sites and 2 PPxY motifs, which interact with WW domain proteins. Northern blot analysis of human cerebral cortex detected a 4.4-kb transcript. Western blot analysis detected synaptopodin in rat brain beginning at embryonic day 15, with maximal expression in adult animals.

NCBI Description

Synaptopodin is an actin-associated protein that may play a role in actin-based cell shape and motility. The name synaptopodin derives from the protein's associations with postsynaptic densities and dendritic spines and with renal podocytes (Mundel et al., 1997 [PubMed 9314539]).[supplied by OMIM, Mar 2008]

Uniprot Description

SYNPO: an actin-associated protein that may play a role in modulating actin-based shape and motility of dendritic spines and renal podocyte foot processes. Seems to be essential for the formation of spine apparatuses in spines of telencephalic neurons, which is involved in synaptic plasticity.

Protein type: Actin-binding; Cytoskeletal

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 5q33.1

Cellular Component: postsynaptic membrane; tight junction; cytoplasm; postsynaptic density; dendritic spine; stress fiber; perikaryon; actin cytoskeleton

Molecular Function: protein binding; actin binding

Product Notes

The Human SYNPO synpo (Catalog #AAA9714089) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA9714089 ELISA Kit recognizes Human SYNPO. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Synaptopodin (SYNPO), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
