Related Product Information for anti-CDHH antibody
Cadherins comprise a family of Ca++-dependent adhesion molecules that function to mediate cell-cell binding critical to the maintenance of tissue structure and morphogen-esis. Cadherins each contain a large extracellular domains characterized by a series of five homologous repeats, the most distal of which is thought to be responsible for binding specificity. The relatively short intracellular domains interact with a variety of cytoplasmic proteins, such as beta-catenin, to regulate cadherin function. T-cadherin (for truncated-cadherin), also designated heart-cadherin or cadherin-13) expression levels have been shown to be reduced in human breast cancers and carcinoma cell lines. Evidence suggests that decreased levels of T-cadherin indicate a progression in breast malignancies.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the cadherin superfamily. The encoded protein is localized to the surface of the cell membrane and is anchored by a GPI moiety, rather than by a transmembrane domain. The protein lacks the cytoplasmic domain characteristic of other cadherins, and so is not thought to be a cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein. This protein acts as a negative regulator of axon growth during neural differentiation. It also protects vascular endothelial cells from apoptosis due to oxidative stress, and is associated with resistance to atherosclerosis. The gene is hypermethylated in many types of cancer. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, May 2011]

Uniprot Description

CDH13: Cadherins are calcium-dependent cell adhesion proteins. They preferentially interact with themselves in a homophilic manner in connecting cells; cadherins may thus contribute to the sorting of heterogeneous cell types. May act as a negative regulator of neural cell growth. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The CDHH cdh13 (Catalog #AAA9436596) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The H Cadherin Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's H Cadherin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Western Blot (WB). IHC: 1:50-1:200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CDHH cdh13 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "H Cadherin, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
