NCBI Description

subunit of nicotinic acetylcholine receptor that is specific to the brain and peripheral nervous system [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

nAChRA3: After binding acetylcholine, the AChR responds by an extensive change in conformation that affects all subunits and leads to opening of an ion-conducting channel across the plasma membrane. Belongs to the ligand-gated ion channel (TC 1.A.9) family. Acetylcholine receptor (TC 1.A.9.1) subfamily. Alpha- 3/CHRNA3 sub-subfamily. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Channel, cation; Membrane protein, multi-pass; Channel, ligand-gated

Cellular Component: nicotinic acetylcholine-gated receptor-channel complex; postsynaptic membrane; cell soma; membrane; postsynaptic density; dendrite; cell junction

Molecular Function: protein heterodimerization activity; acetylcholine receptor activity; drug binding; acetylcholine binding; nicotinic acetylcholine-activated cation-selective channel activity

Biological Process: regulation of smooth muscle contraction; response to drug; response to nicotine; nervous system development; response to inorganic substance; transmembrane receptor protein tyrosine kinase activation (dimerization); regulation of muscle contraction; protein heterooligomerization; heart development; regulation of dendrite morphogenesis; regulation of acetylcholine secretion; behavioral response to nicotine; locomotory behavior; signal transduction; synaptic transmission, cholinergic; synaptic transmission; regulation of membrane potential; synaptic transmission involved in micturition; regulation of excitatory postsynaptic membrane potential; cation transport

Product Notes

The Rat CHRNA3 chrna3 (Catalog #AAA9342746) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA9342746 ELISA Kit recognizes Rat CHRNA3. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "cholinergic receptor, nicotinic, alpha 3, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
