Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for SMURF1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any SMURF1 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for SMURF1 is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of SMURF1 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

Uniprot Description

SMURF1: E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase that acts as a negative regulator of BMP signaling pathway. Mediates ubiquitination and degradation of SMAD1 and SMAD5, 2 receptor-regulated SMADs specific for the BMP pathway. Promotes ubiquitination and subsequent proteasomal degradation of TRAF family members and RHOA. Interacts with TRAF4. Interacts (via HECT domain) with FBXL15 (via LRR repeats). Interacts with SMAD7 and TGFBR1; SMAD7 recruits SMURF1 to TGFBR1 and regulates TGF-beta receptor degradation. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The Mouse SMURF1 smurf1 (Catalog #AAA926554) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA926554 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse SMURF1. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SMAD specific E3 ubiquitin protein ligase 1, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
