CLDN1; CLD1; SEMP1; ILVASC
Synonyms
Claudin 1 (CLDN1) (Loop2); Claudin 1 (CLDN1) Antibody (Loop2) Blocking peptide; Claudin-1; Senescence-associated epithelial membrane protein; CLDN1; CLD1; SEMP1; CLDN1 blocking peptide
Ordering
Specificity
The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody was selected from the Loop2 region of human CLDN1. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.
Form/Format
Synthetic peptide was lyophilized with 100% acetonitrile and is supplied as a powder. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml DI water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml.
Sequence Length
211
Cellular Location
Cell junction, tight junction. Cell membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein
Tissue Location
Strongly expressed in liver and kidney. Expressed in heart, brain, spleen, lung and testis
Preparation and Storage
Maintain refrigerated at 2-8 degree C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20 degree C.
Related Product Information for CLDN1 blocking peptide
Claudins function as major constituents of the tight junction complexes that regulate the permeability of epithelia. While some claudin family members play essential roles in the formation of impermeable barriers, others mediate the permeability to ions and small molecules. Often, several claudin family members are coexpressed and interact with each other, and this determines the overall permeability. CLDN1 is required to prevent the paracellular diffusion of small molecules through tight junctions in the epidermis and is required for the normal barrier function of the skin. Required for normal water homeostasis and to prevent excessive water loss through the skin, probably via an indirect effect on the expression levels of other proteins, since CLDN1 itself seems to be dispensable for water barrier formation in keratinocyte tight junctions (PubMed:23407391). CLDN1 acts as a coreceptor for HCV entry into hepatic cells.

NCBI Description

Tight junctions represent one mode of cell-to-cell adhesion in epithelial or endothelial cell sheets, forming continuous seals around cells and serving as a physical barrier to prevent solutes and water from passing freely through the paracellular space. These junctions are comprised of sets of continuous networking strands in the outwardly facing cytoplasmic leaflet, with complementary grooves in the inwardly facing extracytoplasmic leaflet. The protein encoded by this gene, a member of the claudin family, is an integral membrane protein and a component of tight junction strands. Loss of function mutations result in neonatal ichthyosis-sclerosing cholangitis syndrome. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Claudin-1: Plays a major role in tight junction-specific obliteration of the intercellular space, through calcium- independent cell-adhesion activity. Acts as a co- receptor for HCV entry into hepatic cells. Can form homo- and heteropolymers with other CLDN. Homopolymers interact with CLDN3, but not CLDN2, homopolymers. Directly interacts with TJP1/ZO-1, TJP2/ZO-2 and TJP3/ZO-3. Interacts with MPDZ and INADL. May interact with HCV E1 and E2 proteins. Strongly expressed in liver and kidney. Expressed in heart, brain, spleen, lung and testis. Belongs to the claudin family.

Product Notes

The CLDN1 cldn1 (Catalog #AAA9226044) is a Blocking Peptide and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Claudin 1 (CLDN1) (Loop2), Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
