Synonyms
GCNT1; GCNT1 Antibody (Center) Blocking Peptide; Beta-1;3-galactosyl-O-glycosyl-glycoprotein beta-1;6-N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase; Core 2-branching enzyme; Core2-GlcNAc-transferase; C2GNT; Core 2 GNT; NACGT2; GCNT1 blocking peptide
Ordering
Specificity
The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody was selected from the Center region of human GCNT1. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.
Form/Format
The synthetic peptide was lyophilized with 100% acetonitrile and is supplied as a powder. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml deionized water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml.
Sequence Length
428
Cellular Location
Golgi apparatus membrane; Single-pass type II membrane protein. Note: Also detected in the trans-Golgi network
Tissue Location
Highly expressed in activated T-lymphocytes and myeloid cells
Preparation and Storage
Maintain refrigerated at 2-8 degree C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20 degree C.
Related Product Information for GCNT1 blocking peptide
Glycosyltransferase that catalyzes the transfer of an N- acetylglucosamine moiety onto mucin-type core 1 O-glycan to form the branched mucin-type core 2 O-glycan. Mucin-type core 2 O- glycans play an important role in leukocyte extravasation as they serve as scaffolds for the display of the selectin ligand sialyl Lewis X by leukocytes.

NCBI Description

This gene is a member of the beta-1,6-N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase gene family. It is essential to the formation of Gal beta 1-3(GlcNAc beta 1-6)GalNAc structures and the core 2 O-glycan branch. The gene coding this enzyme was originally mapped to 9q21, but was later localized to 9q13. Multiple alternatively spliced variants, encoding the same protein, have been identified. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Product Notes

The GCNT1 gcnt1 (Catalog #AAA9224656) is a Blocking Peptide and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "GCNT1, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
