Gene Names
ARHGAP24; p73; FILGAP; RCGAP72; RC-GAP72; p73RhoGAP
Synonyms
ARHGAP24; ARHGAP24 Antibody (C-term) Blocking peptide; Rho GTPase-activating protein 24; Filamin-A-associated RhoGAP; FilGAP; RAC1- and CDC42-specific GTPase-activating protein of 72 kDa; RC-GAP72; Rho-type GTPase-activating protein 24; RhoGAP of 73 kDa; Sarcoma antigen NY-SAR-88; p73RhoGAP; FILGAP; ARHGAP24 blocking peptide
Ordering
Specificity
The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody was selected from the C-term region of ARHGAP24. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.
Form/Format
Synthetic peptide was lyophilized with 100% acetonitrile and is supplied as a powder. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml DI water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml.
Sequence Length
748
Cellular Location
Cytoplasm, cytoskeleton. Cell junction, adherens junction. Cell junction, focal adhesion. Cell projection Note: Localizes to actin stress fibers. In migrating cells, localizes to membrane lamellae and protusions
Tissue Location
Isoform 1 is widely expressed with a higher level in kidney. Isoform 2 is mainly expressed in endothelial cells.
Preparation and Storage
Maintain refrigerated at 2-8 degree C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20 degree C.
Related Product Information for ARHGAP24 blocking peptide
Rho GTPase-activating protein involved in cell polarity, cell morphology and cytoskeletal organization. Acts as a GTPase activator for the Rac-type GTPase by converting it to an inactive GDP-bound state. Controls actin remodeling by inactivating Rac downstream of Rho leading to suppress leading edge protrusion and promotes cell retraction to achieve cellular polarity. Able to suppress RAC1 and CDC42 activity in vitro. Overexpression induces cell rounding with partial or complete disruption of actin stress fibers and formation of membrane ruffles, lamellipodia, and filopodia. Isoform 2 is a vascular cell-specific GAP involved in modulation of angiogenesis.

NCBI Description

ARHGAPs, such as ARHGAP24, encode negative regulators of Rho GTPases (see ARHA; MIM 165390), which are implicated in actin remodeling, cell polarity, and cell migration (Katoh and Katoh, 2004 [PubMed 15254788]).[supplied by OMIM, Mar 2008]

Uniprot Description

ARHGAP24: Rho GTPase-activating protein involved in cell polarity, cell morphology and cytoskeletal organization. 5 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: GAPs, Rac/Rho; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; GAPs

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 4q22.1

Cellular Component: cytosol

Molecular Function: GTPase activator activity; protein binding

Product Notes

The ARHGAP24 arhgap24 (Catalog #AAA9220227) is a Blocking Peptide and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ARHGAP24, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
