SELK blocking peptide

SELK Antibody (Center) Blocking peptide

Gene Names
SELK; SelK; HSPC030; HSPC297
Synonyms
SELK; SELK Antibody (Center) Blocking peptide; Selenoprotein K; SelK; SELK blocking peptide
Ordering
Specificity
The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody was selected from the Center region of SELK. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.
Form/Format
Synthetic peptide was lyophilized with 100% acetonitrile and is supplied as a powder. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml DI water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml.
Sequence Length
94
Cellular Location
Endoplasmic reticulum membrane; Single-pass membrane protein. Cell membrane; Single-pass membrane protein
Tissue Location
Highly expressed in heart.
Preparation and Storage
Maintain refrigerated at 2-8 degree C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20 degree C.
Related Product Information for SELK blocking peptide
Required for Ca(2+) flux in immune cells and plays a role in T-cell proliferation and in T-cell and neutrophil migration. Involved in endoplasmic reticulum-associated degradation (ERAD) of soluble glycosylated proteins. Required for palmitoylation and cell surface expression of CD36 and involved in macrophage uptake of low-density lipoprotein and in foam cell formation. Plays a role in protection of cells from ER stress- induced apoptosis. Protects cells from oxidative stress when overexpressed in cardiomyocytes.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a selenoprotein, which contains a selenocysteine (Sec) residue at its active site. The selenocysteine is encoded by the UGA codon that normally signals translation termination. The 3' UTR of selenoprotein genes have a common stem-loop structure, the sec insertion sequence (SECIS), that is necessary for the recognition of UGA as a Sec codon rather than as a stop signal. This selenoprotein is localized to the endoplasmic reticulum and is highly expressed in the heart, where it may function as an antioxidant. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Product Notes

The SELK selk (Catalog #AAA9220037) is a Blocking Peptide and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SELK, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
