Related Product Information for anti-CALCA antibody
This gene encodes the peptide hormones calcitonin,
calcitonin gene-related peptide and katacalcin by tissue-specific
alternative RNA splicing of the gene transcripts and cleavage of
inactive precursor proteins. Calcitonin is involved in calcium
regulation and acts to regulate phosphorus metabolism. Calcitonin
gene-related peptide functions as a vasodilator while katacalcin is
a calcium-lowering peptide. Multiple transcript variants encoding
different isoforms have been found for this gene.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes the peptide hormones calcitonin, calcitonin gene-related peptide and katacalcin by tissue-specific alternative RNA splicing of the gene transcripts and cleavage of inactive precursor proteins. Calcitonin is involved in calcium regulation and acts to regulate phosphorus metabolism. Calcitonin gene-related peptide functions as a vasodilator and as an antimicrobial peptide while katacalcin is a calcium-lowering peptide. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Aug 2014]

Uniprot Description

CALCA: Calcitonin causes a rapid but short-lived drop in the level of calcium and phosphate in blood by promoting the incorporation of those ions in the bones. Belongs to the calcitonin family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The CALCA calca (Catalog #AAA9200152) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 56-84. The CALCA/CT Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CALCA/CT can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). WB~~1:100~250. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CALCA calca for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CALCA/CT, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
