SDS-PAGE; HPLC
Reconstitution
Centrifuge the vial prior to opening. Reconstitute in 0.1% acetic acid to a concentration of 1 ug/ul. This solution can then be diluted into other aqueous buffers and stored at 4°C for 1 week or –20°C for future use.
Biological Activity
For most in vitro applications, Apo-SAA exerts its biological activity in the concentration range of 10-50 ug/ml.
Preparation and Storage
The lyophilized human Apo-SAA is best-stored desiccated below 0°C. Reconstituted Apo-SAA should be stored in working aliquots at -20 degree C.

Related Product Information for SAA1 active protein
Background: Human apo-SAA is a 104 amino acid polypeptide that circulates primarily in association with high-density lipoproteins (HDL). The level of apo-SAA, normally 1-5 ug/ml in plasma, increases 500-1000 fold within 24 hours of an inflammatory stimulus and, under these conditions, is the most abundant HDL apo-lipoprotein. The human SAA gene codes for a 122 amino acid polypeptide, which contains an 18 amino acid N-terminal signal sequence.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the serum amyloid A family of apolipoproteins. The encoded protein is a major acute phase protein that is highly expressed in response to inflammation and tissue injury. This protein also plays an important role in HDL metabolism and cholesterol homeostasis. High levels of this protein are associated with chronic inflammatory diseases including atherosclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, Alzheimer's disease and Crohn's disease. This protein may also be a potential biomarker for certain tumors. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants that encode the same protein. A pseudogene of this gene is found on chromosome 11.[provided by RefSeq, Jun 2012]

Uniprot Description

SAA1: Major acute phase reactant. Apolipoprotein of the HDL complex. Reactive, secondary amyloidosis is characterized by the extracellular accumulation in various tissues of the SAA1 protein. These deposits are highly insoluble and resistant to proteolysis; they disrupt tissue structure and compromise function. Elevated serum SAA1 protein levels may be associated with lung cancer. Belongs to the SAA family.

Protein type: Secreted; Secreted, signal peptide

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 11p15.1

Cellular Component: extracellular region

Molecular Function: heparin binding; G-protein-coupled receptor binding

Biological Process: positive regulation of interleukin-1 secretion; neutrophil chemotaxis; receptor-mediated endocytosis; platelet activation; elevation of cytosolic calcium ion concentration; regulation of protein secretion; positive regulation of cell adhesion; negative regulation of inflammatory response; acute-phase response; innate immune response; lymphocyte chemotaxis; macrophage chemotaxis; positive regulation of cytokine secretion

Product Notes

The SAA1 saa1 (Catalog #AAA844510) is an Active Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's Apo-SAA can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, SDS-PAGE; HPLC. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SAA1 saa1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Apo-SAA, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
