Recombinant
Biological Significance
snRNPs are RNA-protein complexes that combine with unmodified pre-mRNA and various other proteins to form a spliceosome, a large RNA-protein molecular complex upon which splicing of pre-mRNA occurs. The action of snRNPs is essential to the removal of introns from pre-mRNA, a critical aspect of post-transcriptional modification of RNA, occurring only in the nucleus of eukaryotic cells.
Expression System
HeLa cells
Preparation and Storage
Store at 2-8 degree C in lyophilized form. Following reconstitution aliquot and store at -20 degree C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the LSm family of RNA-binding proteins. LSm proteins form stable heteromers that bind specifically to the 3'-terminal oligo(U) tract of U6 snRNA and may play a role in pre-mRNA splicing by mediating U4/U6 snRNP formation. Pseudogenes of this gene are located on the short arm of chromosomes 6 and 19. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2011]

Uniprot Description

LSM2: Binds specifically to the 3'-terminal U-tract of U6 snRNA. May be involved in pre-mRNA splicing. Identified in the spliceosome C complex. LSm subunits form a heteromer with a doughnut shape. Belongs to the snRNP Sm proteins family.

Product Notes

The snRNP lsm2 (Catalog #AAA835881) is a Recombinant Protein and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's snRNP can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, User optimized. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the snRNP lsm2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "snRNP, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
