Biological Significance
TMOD1 a member of the tropomodulin family. The encoded protein is an actin-capping protein that regulates tropomyosin by binding to its N-terminus, inhibiting depolymerization and elongation of the pointed end of actin filaments and thereby influencing the structure of the erythrocyte membrane skeleton.
Cross-Reactivity
Human
Immunogen
TMOD1 antibody was raised in mouse using a full length recombinant protein of human TMOD1 (NP_003266) produced in HEK293 cell as the immunogen.
Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C for short term storage. Aliquot and store at -20 degree C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the tropomodulin family. The encoded protein is an actin-capping protein that regulates tropomyosin by binding to its N-terminus, inhibiting depolymerization and elongation of the pointed end of actin filaments and thereby influencing the structure of the erythrocyte membrane skeleton. Multiple transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2009]

Uniprot Description

TMOD1: Blocks the elongation and depolymerization of the actin filaments at the pointed end. The Tmod/TM complex contributes to the formation of the short actin protofilament, which in turn defines the geometry of the membrane skeleton. May play an important role in regulating the organization of actin filaments by preferentially binding to a specific tropomyosin isoform at its N-terminus. Belongs to the tropomodulin family.

Protein type: Contractile; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Cytoskeletal; Cell development/differentiation

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 9q22.3

Cellular Component: signalosome; cortical cytoskeleton; membrane; cytosol; striated muscle thin filament

Molecular Function: actin filament binding; tropomyosin binding

Biological Process: myofibril assembly; muscle contraction; adult locomotory behavior; actin filament organization; pointed-end actin filament capping; muscle filament sliding

Product Notes

The TMOD1 tmod1 (Catalog #AAA833196) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's TMOD1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS), Immunofluorescence (IF), Western Blot (WB). FC: 1:100 IF: 1:100 WB: 1:2000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the TMOD1 tmod1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "TMOD1, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
