Directions for Use
Always centrifuge tubes before opening. Do not mix by vortex or pipetting. It is not recommended to reconstitute to a concentration less than 100 mug/ml. Dissolve the lyophilized protein in 1X PBS. Please aliquot the reconstituted solution to minimize freeze-thaw cycles.
Preparation and Storage
Lyophilized protein should be stored at -20 degree C, though stable at room temperature for 3 weeks. Reconstituted protein solution can be stored at 2-8 degree C for 2-7 days. Aliquots of reconstituted samples are stable at -20 degree C for 3 months.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is involved in the attachment of osteoclasts to the mineralized bone matrix. The encoded protein is secreted and binds hydroxyapatite with high affinity. The osteoclast vitronectin receptor is found in the cell membrane and may be involved in the binding to this protein. This protein is also a cytokine that upregulates expression of interferon-gamma and interleukin-12. Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2011]

Uniprot Description

osteopontin: Binds tightly to hydroxyapatite. Appears to form an integral part of the mineralized matrix. Probably important to cell-matrix interaction. Belongs to the osteopontin family. 5 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Secreted; Secreted, signal peptide

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 4q22.1

Cellular Component: extracellular region; extracellular space

Molecular Function: extracellular matrix binding; protein binding

Biological Process: cell adhesion; decidualization; embryo implantation; extracellular matrix disassembly; extracellular matrix organization and biogenesis; osteoblast differentiation; positive regulation of bone resorption; response to vitamin D

Product Notes

The SPP1 spp1 (Catalog #AAA8249826) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Human cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Recombinant Human SPP1 Protein reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SPP1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA),Western Blot (WB), SDS-PAGE, Mass Spectrometry (MS). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SPP1 spp1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: IPVKQADSGS SEEKQLYNKY PDAVATWLNP DPSQKQNLLA PQNAVSSEET NDFKQETLPS KSNESHDHMD DMDDEDDDDH VDSQDSIDSN DSDDVDDTDD SHQSDESHHS DESDELVTDF PTDLPATEVF TPVVPTVDTY DGRGDSVVYG LRSKSKKFRR PDIQYPDATD EDITSHMESE ELNGAYKAIP VAQDLNAPSD WDSRGKDSYE TSQLDDQSAE THSHKQSRLY KRKANDESNE HSDVIDSQEL SKVSREFHSH EFHSHEDMLV VDPKSKEEDK HLKFRISHEL DSASSEVNVD HHHHHH. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SPP1, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
