Immunohistochemistry (IHC)

(Immunohistochemical analysis of GCP6 staining in human breast cancer formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue section. The section was pre-treated using heat mediated antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0). The section was then incubated with the antibody at room temperature and detected using an HRP conjugated compact polymer system. DAB was used as the chromogen. The section was then counterstained with haematoxylin and mounted with DPX.)

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is part of a large multisubunit complex required for microtubule nucleation at the centrosome. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

GCP6: Gamma-tubulin complex is necessary for microtubule nucleation at the centrosome. Defects in TUBGCP6 are the cause of microcephaly with chorioretinopathy, autosomal recessive (MCPHCR). A syndrome characterized by microcephaly, cognitive impairment, underdeveloped retina and choroid, and epilepsy in some patients. The more anterior parts of the retina, near the periphery and pars plana, have a grayish hue and diminutive vasculature similar to retinopathy of prematurity. Visual impairment becomes evident during the first year of life. Belongs to the TUBGCP family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Cytoskeletal

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 22q13.31-q13.33

Cellular Component: centrosome; cytosol; gamma-tubulin ring complex; membrane; microtubule; spindle pole body

Molecular Function: gamma-tubulin binding; microtubule binding; microtubule minus-end binding; structural constituent of cytoskeleton

Biological Process: centrosome duplication; cytoplasmic microtubule organization and biogenesis; G2/M transition of mitotic cell cycle; interphase microtubule nucleation by interphase microtubule organizing center; meiosis; microtubule nucleation; mitotic cell cycle

Disease: Microcephaly And Chorioretinopathy, Autosomal Recessive 1

Product Notes

The TUBGCP6 tubgcp6 (Catalog #AAA8242389) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-GCP6 Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's GCP6 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Western Blot: (1/500 - 1/1000); Immunohistochemistry: (1/100 - 1/200). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the TUBGCP6 tubgcp6 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "GCP6, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
