Related Product Information for anti-PIGK antibody
PIGK (Phosphatidylinositol Glycan Anchor Biosynthesis Class K) is a Protein Coding gene. This gene encodes a member of the cysteine protease family C13 that is involved in glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchor biosynthesis. PIGK is a crucial member of the glycosyl-phosphatidylinositol transamidase (GPIT) protein complex that attaches a diverse group of macromolecules to the plasma membrane of eukaryotes. The encoded protein, PIGK, functions in the attachment of glycophosphatidylinositol anchors to precursor proteins. PIGK encodes a component of the GPI transamidase complex, which attaches the GPI anchor to proteins. Clinical features found in most individuals include global developmental delay and/or intellectual disability, hypotonia, cerebellar ataxia, cerebellar atrophy, and facial dysmorphisms. The majority of individuals have epilepsy.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the cysteine protease family C13 that is involved in glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchor biosynthesis. The GPI-anchor is a glycolipid found on many blood cells and serves to anchor proteins to the cell surface. This protein is a member of the multisubunit enzyme, GPI transamidase and is thought to be its enzymatic component. GPI transamidase mediates GPI anchoring in the endoplasmic reticulum, by catalyzing the transfer of fully assembled GPI units to proteins. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

PIGK: Mediates GPI anchoring in the endoplasmic reticulum, by replacing a protein's C-terminal GPI attachment signal peptide with a pre-assembled GPI. During this transamidation reaction, the GPI transamidase forms a carbonyl intermediate with the substrate protein. Belongs to the peptidase C13 family.

Protein type: Glycan Metabolism - glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchor biosynthesis; Protease; Endoplasmic reticulum; EC 3.-.-.-; Membrane protein, integral

Product Notes

The PIGK pigk (Catalog #AAA8103185) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-PIGK Antibody, Rabbit Polyclonal reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's PIGK can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin (IHC-P), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunofluorescence (IF). IHC-P: 1:100-1:500 ICC/IF: 1:100-1:500. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PIGK pigk for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PIGK, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
