Related Product Information for anti-NF2 antibody
NF2 (neurofibromin 2) is an established tumor suppressor that promotes apoptosis and inhibits growth in a variety of cell types. The NF2 gene product Merlin is a FERM-domain protein possessing a broad tumor-suppressing function. NF2/Merlin has been implicated in regulating multiple signaling pathways critical for cell growth and survival. The NF2 gene is a putative tumor-suppressor gene that, when it is altered in the germline, causes neurofibromatosis type 2, a tumor-susceptibility disease that mainly predisposes to schwannomas and meningiomas. Loss of function mutations or deletions in NF2 cause neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2), a multiple tumor-forming diseases of the nervous system. NF2 is characterized by the development of bilateral vestibular schwannomas.NF2 gene alterations may have a clinical impact in non-NF2 vestibular schwannomas (VSs).

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a protein that is similar to some members of the ERM (ezrin, radixin, moesin) family of proteins that are thought to link cytoskeletal components with proteins in the cell membrane. This gene product has been shown to interact with cell-surface proteins, proteins involved in cytoskeletal dynamics and proteins involved in regulating ion transport. This gene is expressed at high levels during embryonic development; in adults, significant expression is found in Schwann cells, meningeal cells, lens and nerve. Mutations in this gene are associated with neurofibromatosis type II which is characterized by nervous system and skin tumors and ocular abnormalities. Two predominant isoforms and a number of minor isoforms are produced by alternatively spliced transcripts. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Merlin: a moesin-ezrin-radizin-like protein. Interacts with cell-surface proteins, proteins involved in cytoskeletal dynamics and proteins involved in regulating ion transport. Expressed at high levels during embryonic development; in adults, significant expression is found in Schwann cells, meningeal cells, lens and nerve. Mutations are associated with neurofibromatosis type II. Two predominant isoforms and eight minor isoforms are produced by alternatively spliced transcripts.

Product Notes

The NF2 nf2 (Catalog #AAA8100590) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Merlin/NF2 Antibody, Rabbit Polyclonal reacts with Human Predicted to React with: Mouse, Rat (Species predicted to react based on 100% sequence homology) and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Merlin/NF2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin (IHC-P). WB: 1:500-1:1000 IHC-P: 1:1000-1:5000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the NF2 nf2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Merlin/NF2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
