Uniprot Description

Function: F-actin-capping proteins bind in a Ca2+-independent manner to the fast growing ends of actin filaments (barbed end) thereby blocking the exchange of subunits at these ends. Unlike other capping proteins (such as gelsolin and severin), these proteins do not sever actin filaments. May play a role in the regulation of cell morphology and cytoskeletal organization.

Subunit structure: Heterodimer of an alpha and a beta subunit. Component of the WASH complex

By similarity. Isoform 2 also is a component of dynactin complex from brain, which contains the actin-related protein ARP1. Ref.2

Subcellular location: Isoform 1: Cytoplasm › myofibril › sarcomere › Z line. Note: In cardiac muscle, isoform 1 is located at Z-disks of sarcomeres. Ref.2Isoform 2: Cytoplasm › myofibril › sarcomere › I band. Cytoplasm › cytoskeleton

By similarity. Note: In cardiac muscle, isoform 2 is located at sarcomere intercalated disks. Ref.2

Tissue specificity: Isoform 1 is detected in pectoral muscle, cardiac muscle and gizzard. Isoform 2 is detected in brain and liver (at protein level). Isoform 2 is the predominant isoform ofnonmuscle tissues and isoform 1 is the predominant isoform ofmuscle tissues. Ref.2

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the F-actin-capping protein beta subunit family.

Product Notes

The Pigeon CAPZbeta capzb (Catalog #AAA076829) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA076829 ELISA Kit recognizes Pigeon CAPZbeta. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Capping Protein Muscle Z Line Beta, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
