Principle of the Assay: This kit was based on Competitive-ELISA detection method. The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with PGF2alpha. During the reaction, PGF2alpha in the sample or standard competes with a fixed amount of PGF2alpha on the solid phase supporter for sites on the Biotinylated Detection Antibody specific to PGF2alpha. Excess conjugate and unbound sample or standard are washed from the plate, and HRP-Streptavidin (SABC) is added to each microplate well and incubated. Then TMB substrate solution is added to each well. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of a sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm. The concentration of PGF2alpha in the samples is then determined by comparing the O D of the samples to the standard curve.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the neuropeptide Y (NPY) family of peptides. The encoded 95 aa preproprotein is synthesized in the pancreatic islets of Langerhans and proteolytically processed to generate two peptide products. These products include the active pancreatic hormone of 36 aa and an icosapeptide of unknown function. This hormone acts as a regulator of pancreatic and gastrointestinal functions and may be important in the regulation of food intake. Plasma level of this hormone has been shown to be reduced in conditions associated with increased food intake and elevated in anorexia nervosa. In addition, infusion of this hormone in obese rodents has shown to decrease weight gain. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants, at least one of which encodes an isoform that is proteolytically processed. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2016]

Product Notes

The Human PPY ppy (Catalog #AAA760864) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA760864 ELISA Kit recognizes Human PPY. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Pancreatic prohormone, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
